Amicus briefs in noted online copyright case summarized

Copyright expert (and past WLF paper author) Ben Sheffner has summarized the amicus briefs supporting the appellants in a closely watched online copyright case, Universal Music Groups v. Veoh Networks, including WLF’s (drafted pro bono by several Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP attorneys led by former WashingtonPost.Newsweek Interactive General Counsel Clifford Sloan).  Ben’s post at his Copyright and Campaigns site is here.  The pending appeal in the Ninth Circuit will have a direct impact on the copyright infringement lawsuit Viacom filed against YouTube (now owned by Google), as Google cited frequently to the favorable U.S. District Court opinion in Veoh.
